Rafting the Lehigh

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rafter, you’ll enjoy the ride on the Lehigh River. Every other weekend April through September, the water is released from the Dam and produces Class 3 rapids. After a three course breakfast, you’re off to the River. Perhaps a show at the Mauch Chunk Opera House or dinner at one of the many restaurants in town (all within walking distance) will finish up your day. Mid-week Mystery Getaway – Who Killed the Roving Romeo of the Red Feather Ladies?

Just who is this scoundrel and what did this roving Romeo do to deserve an untimely death? Enjoy solving this mystery over a three course afternoon tea. Each person plays a bit part providing clues and of course, excuses why it couldn’t possibly be them! But, before you solve the mystery, enjoy an informative historic walking tour of Jim Thorpe. After tea, enjoy the shops, art galleries and museums—all within walking distance. Package includes one night’s accommodations on a Tuesday or Wednesday, walking tour, mystery tea and breakfast. $115 per person double occupancy (includes tax). Biking in Jim Thorpe

Nice and flat, a little hilly or straight up and down again—Jim Thorpe has trails for you. The Lehigh Gorge trail is a 15 or 25 mile flat trail meandering along the Lehigh River. The Switchback trail is 11 miles with a few hills at the beginning of the trail and ends in downtown area. Other parts of the Switchback include a 47% downhill grade—the original ascent for the Switchback Gravity Railroad. Package includes two night’s accommodations, two full breakfasts, two bike rentals and two shuttle rides to the trail head. $354 per couple (includes tax)
