Want a leisurely getaway weekend? Jim Thorpe is a great place to relax, visit a mansion, walk around shops, enjoy some great food and have an old fashion night at the movies. But not just any movie. Experience the memories and joys of the “Saturday Movie Matinee” through an array of delightful cartoons, newsreels, short subjects, cliffhangers, and feature films. Each show promises an entertaining audio and visual journey into the past. The series begins on Saturday May 19th, with movies, music and images ranging from the late 1800’s through the roaring 1920’s. During June and July, the Opera House movie time machine is programmed for the 1930’s; August and September is an excursion back to the 40’s; in November and December, the Opera House Flux Capacitor is set for the 1950’s. Visit the Mauch Chunk Historical Society for additional information. But before the movie, enjoy dinner at the Emerald Restaurant.
